Nurturing Healthy Habits for Professionals: One Step at A Time

In a corporate world for past 15-years it is always the struggle to juggle the hustle bustle and personal life in a balance way. Throughout these years incorporating the healthy habits seems far reach in a world where unhealthy snacks and sugar filled beverages seems in easy access. Lately the inclination towards adapting healthy lifestyle is leading me to search and practice these steps in my personal and professional life both. So I am here today scribbling down for you all to tell you that it IS possible to lead your professional life in healthy manner where you all will be no more energy drained by day end and all it needs for your mindset to believe it is attainable and head on to devise attainable goals: One Step at A Time.

So in this quick 7-minute read I will be listing down some newly adapted healthy habits that is helping me to enhance my overall health in my office lifestyle.

Let’s begin!

Make Your Bedtime THE PRIORITY

Prioritize your recommended hours of sleep without any possible distractions. With reference to Sleep Foundation recommended sleep times for adults is minimum 7hours and above. Aim a consistent sleep schedule and mitigate any distractions to wake up fresh and alert to carry on with your day. Quality sleep is the main key to determine your tone of the day making you more alert, concentrated and energetic. Researchers claim that the better sleep is the basic and first step of inculcating healthy habits in your life.

 Healthy Breakfast

As a corporate professional I have oftenly experienced that skipping breakfasts has always leaded me to pile up with the unhealthy sugary snacks within initial hours of work and to your surprise the pattern keeps on repeating all day!

So breakfast should be your most mindful meal of the day combining the best composition of Carbs, Proteins and Fats. If you are like me who wakes up with the cup of Jo in hand first thing in the morning, ditch this habit at once as it may lead to long term ailment related to your gut…thank me later. However, you can have it till you reach your workstations.

Cultivate The Habit of Movement

Move Move Move…movement is the key! Get in to routine of movement even if you are at your desk. How? By now I have been practicing attending the calls while standing or else take a walk around the hallway. (if it is landline you can keep standing) Fit in your steps by talking a quick lunchtime stroll around the block. Be active or else try office stretches which we will discuss later may be in another writing which will break your sedentary condition for long.Try your morning workout or else gentle yoga and stretches along with the mediation will set you up to conquer your day with a right mindset.

Take a Tech Break

I know detaching from the gadgets and technology is inevitable but all we can do is reduce and limit the screen times while at work…Yes you read it right. If your work like me is to constantly stare at your screen put on the UV filters and wear specs with one. Make habit of closing eyes or practice some eye movements clockwise or and anti-clockwise to reduce the pressure off your eyes. Also when you reach home observe curfew timings of using your gadgets and cellphones and make sure to keep them away from your bedside and turn them off/airplane mode 2 hours prior to your bed time for better sleep so that you practice a better sleep time as we discussed earlier in this read.

So here you all have my newly adapted 04- healthy habits being a professional which is taking tons loads of my mind and body. These are not it and the new habits may get introduced with every passing day which I may update with you all until then go ahead and begin with even any one of them and see the shifting yourself.

Do share your thoughts and ideas for more.

To Where? Somewhere Only We Know

As half of the year 2024 is over and begining the next half year wave with a mixed bag of emotions. A thought just struck my mind Did I Choose Me? Well...to be honest I can't say it firmly if I did or not...but for the rest of the year we can. Promise yourself no matter what...no matter what phase we are in we will be our own first choice. Amidst all the chaos ...all the uncertainty promise to hang in there with yourself and your Creator. Trust on this He will not give up on you ever. If all seems bumpy and the road seems endlesly long hang on.... It will all get better...Your task is just to enjoy the time and look ahead to the better promising future.

It Will Be Worth It In The End

So we have 5 months to end this year our way ...somewhere in the middle of summers from where we are going to transition into the Fall and our favorite BER- months( if you know you know) It is perfectly fine if you have not attained your goals yet as long as you have taken the initiative to begin from somewhere .And in case you have not begun it is the perfect time to begin. Do not give it second thoughts and begin  Pledge to choose the best for yourself. Don't take anything less for yourself and do not settle for bare minimum efforts . I strongly urge not even to settle for mishandling and abusing at the first step even. Stop the cycle and break the bond for yourself and for your sanity . It is the high time to choose yourself.Embrace yourself with the same love first which you expect to get from others. It will be worth it!

WELCOME HOME

Pause... Just pause wherever you are right now.Whatever you are doing.Whatever your mind is racing towards...just pause and breathe. Come back to yourself.Yes...yourself...! All this time you have been running away from yourself trying to find solace in others existence and did you ever notice who got neglected in the end? You ....!  You were the most you needed all this time...when you were seeking external validations..ever wondered why? Because you were not ever healed... I don't know from what XYZ factor...you were never healed and running door to door to accept you to love you to call you home...but in the end it was always you who you needed to go back to. It doesn't matter how much time has passed or what your age is....healing yourself can happen any time. And NOW is the time...accept yourself with all your flaws and start pouring in to yourself all the love you have been seeking outside. Let Go and Let God... Welcome Home!
